Aluminum Acetate Topical Solution (Domeboro, Bluboro, Burow’s Solution)

Description:

  • Aluminum salt

Indications:

  • Skin irritation

  • Athlete’s foot, insect bites, poison ivy

  • Eczema, acne, bruises, pruritis ani

Contraindications:

  • Tight, occlusive dressing

Precautions:

  • Soap reduces the astringent actions of aluminum acetate

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • SKIN: increasing inflammation, irritation

Dosage:

  • Administered topically

  • Adult and child: TOP apply for 15-30 minutes, every 4-8 hours (1:10-1:40 dilution)

  • Note: 1 packet or tablet in 1 pint of water produces a modified 1:40 Burows’s solution
