This is also a very painful condition that occurs when the ovary twists on the Fallopian tube causing compromise of the blood supply and ischemia. The condition usually requires surgery. Torsion is possible, but less likely in this case because it tends to occur with abrupt onset of pain and should not cause low-grade fever.
