Q2:
C. Various intestinal facultative bacteria and Prevotella species
After a few episodes of cervicitis associated with classic STD pathogens, such as N. gonorrhoeae or C. trachomatis, the cervix may cease to be an effective barrier to the ascent of bacteria from the vagina to the upper genital tract. Sometimes PID can be associated with infection by these organisms in the absence of a classic STD pathogen. But could this patient have a classic STD pathogen also. Did you notice that the Gram stain was positive? If not, try another option.
