General Biographical Description: Dr Anthony Vintzileos is Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, NY and Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Medicine at Stony Brook University, School of Medicine, NY. Prior to his present position, Dr Vintzileos was Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School during the years 2002-2007. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he is also certified by the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, ABOG. Dr Vintzileos has been a steady supporter of the literature in the area of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and tireless academic contributor during various annual scientific meetings. Over the past 25 years, he has had numerous oral and poster presentations. In recognition of his academic contributions, he was given the award for “Outstanding Individual Contributor” in 1998 and also the “Award of Research Excellence” by the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2001. In addition, over the years, he has participated as “abstract” reviewer and also frequently organized and presented in the workshops, postgraduate courses and symposia during various scientific meetings. Dr Vintzileos has authored and co-authored approximately 300 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics related to maternal-fetal medicine, fetal behavior and obstetrical ultrasonography. He is a member of the editorial board for several medical journals. He consults for several peer-reviewed OB/GYN journals and has been recognized as a top reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998, 2000 and 2003. Dr Vintzileos has served on several national review panels, study sections, and committees and he has served as an elected member to the Board of Governors of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) from 2005-2008.

Special Interests: Obstetrical sonography, fetal behaviour, prematurity, ischemic placental disease.
