General Biographical Description: Ignatia B. Van den Veyver is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, and Interim Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine where she has been on the faculty since 1996. After earning her medical school degree and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Antwerp in Belgium in 1990, she spent one final year of residency in Pretoria, South Africa. She pursued fellowships in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (1991-1993) and Clinical Genetics (1993-1996) at Baylor College of Medicine. She currently also co-directs the Translational Biology and Molecular Medicine graduate program at Baylor since June, 2008. Dr Van den Veyver is also active as a reviewer for clinical and research journals and serves on study sections for the National Institutes of Health.

Special Interests: Array-based comparative genomic hybridization in prenatal diagnosis, genetic and eipigenetic studies in spradoc and familial hydatidiform moles, epigenetics and development, influence of nutrition and environment, search for mutated genes in X-linked disorders (Aicardi syndrome, Goltz syndrome).
