Myoglobin is a protein found in skeletal and cardiac muscle.
Injury to striated muscle will cause a release of myoglobin into the blood, elevating the myoglobin levels. Injuries may include:
Traumatic injury (crush, blast)
Excessive exercise
Siezures
Electrocution
Malayan Sea Snake bite
Myocardial infarction
