Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month
New resources from GLOWM’s Continuous Textbook
September is Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, providing an opportunity to highlight the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and evidence-based management of gynecological cancers.
Over the past year, GLOWM’s Continuous Textbook of Women’s Medicine has expanded substantially, with the publication of a dedicated volume on Gynecological Cancer, alongside new chapters in Ultrasound in Gynecology. To mark this year’s Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, we highlight some of these additions, including chapters, practical instructional videos and AI-generated conversational audio discussions.
Practical learning: ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy
Image-guided Core-needle Biopsy in Gynecological Oncology is a comprehensive chapter detailing the indications, techniques, diagnostic performance, safety and training involved in ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy. The chapter is accompanied by three highly didactic instructional videos, developed to demonstrate the practical aspects of the procedure:
Video 1: Indications for core-needle biopsy in gynecology
Clinical cases demonstrating the different indications for core-needle biopsy in gynecology and gynecological oncology.
Video 2: Methods for performing ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy
Demonstration of transvaginal, transrectal, transcervical and percutaneous approaches to ultrasound-guided biopsy.
Video 3: Phantom-based and supervised in-vivo training for core-needle biopsy
Demonstration of phantom-based training and supervised clinical training for developing competence in the procedure.

Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer can present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, and management increasingly depends on accurate imaging, pathological classification and evolving systemic treatments.
New GLOWM chapters include:
