About WoW

Welfare of Women (WoW) program

The WoW program aims to provide women worldwide with clear, reliable and accessible health information, regardless of location, literacy or language. Recognizing that women's understanding of health often varies due to differences in education, perception and access to trustworthy resources, WoW works to bridge these gaps and equip women with the knowledge they need to care for themselves and their families.

Many women, particularly those who are uneducated, illiterate or underprivileged, receive little to no practical health guidance, even when they have occasional contact with medical services. Others may have internet access but struggle to separate accurate facts from misinformation. WoW aims to address these challenges through expertly approved health messages delivered as short cartoon videos with voice commentary in different languages. The simple messages are supplemented with text-based information and suggested links to reliable online resources for those seeking deeper knowledge.

The program, which builds on a successful pilot initiative developed with the World Health Organization (African Region), will be continually expanded to eventually cover all topics throughout a woman's life course, from periods, contraception and pregnancy-related issues to menopause and health in later years, in multiple languages.
